Explorateur - one-of-a-kind, lightweight steel custom travel bike using Ritchey BreakAway system. Absolutely beautiful ride quality! Custom measurements (happy to provide) - closest to a 58cm, but s hould work for anyone who typically rides a 57cm - 60cm ( approx reach = 41.75cm; approx stack = 60cm-ish…could be somewhat less - oversized head tube - not sure what the best measurement here is… top tube is tad under 57cm and I’d estimate the effective top tube to be a tad under 58cm).
This was modeled on a 58 - 59cm frame I have, but with a couple of tweaks to make it more packable, biggest of which is that seat tube is approx 3cm shorter (little over 56cm rather than 59cm on the other bike.) Rider accommodates by simply extending the seat tube the additional 3cm (give or take a little of course, depending on the rider.)
This bike was designed and built to travel to the world’s best climbs, and the complete bike weighs 19.8lbs as pictured!! (You could easily go lower - swapping in Enve wheels and handlebar/seatpost would get the bike closer to 18.5lbs…other than the frame, none of the components are optimized for weight.) And the pictures simply do not do this frame justice - the detail of the welds, and the o ctagonal flattened Spirit HSS top tube, or the tapered head tube are hard to pick up in the pics, but subtlety stand out in real life. The patented Ritchey Break-Away® design has been heralded by mainstream cycling media as one of the most innovative bikes on the market today. It's not a travel bike. It's a bike that travels. By removing two bolts and disconnecting the cabling, the frame splits in half, and the bike is ready to pack down into a standard sized suitcase. ( Also including a co-motion suitcase - https://co-motion.com/collections/store/products/co-pilot-bicycle-travel - which lists for $449)
Frame does not have very many miles on it, and is in excellent condition EXCEPT for a couple of rust spots (pictured) from spending too many miles on a trainer during Covid lockdowns when it should have been traveling the world. The rust was however completely superficial and cleaned up nicely. No dents, never crashed, etc
Happy to take pics of any additional areas of the bike or answer any other questions - just ask.
